Hi, I’m Ashley ashton.

I am a heterosexual cisfemale who identifies as Caucasian. I use she | her pronouns. I currently live in the midwest, but my heart belongs to Seattle. I love plants, hiking, travel, dogs and my cat Todd.

I have a Masters in Social Work from Indiana University. I explored different majors at University, but ultimately was drawn towards human behavior and cognition. Living in Seattle exposed me to the natural healing that nature can provide. That knowledge has led me to incorporate indoor plants and nature into my practice through mindfulness and mediation.

Working with me will open your senses to the world around you, allowing you to pull calming emotions from nature. Emotional dysregulation, whether created from depression, anxiety, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed by the daily bustle, can create a barrier preventing retrieval of skills to help you cope. By incorporating nature into your recovery, stepping outside becomes an activator, stimulating cognitive pathways and granting access to coping resources.

My Approach

I practice from a strengths-based and person-centered approach. I believe in and understand the importance of each client’s autonomy in their own treatment. I will work with you to understand you as an individual and the complex systems in which you live. My theoretical orientation is rooted trauma-informed practices, cognitive behavioral therapy [CBT], dialectical behavioral therapy [DBT], solution focused therapy, mindfulness and meditation practices, and EMDR.

Hi, I’m Caleb Cohen.

Hello! I am a cisgender white male who uses he/him pronouns. I was born in the suburbs of Chicago, but have spent most of my life in Indiana, GO HOOSIERS! Currently, I live in Bloomington, IN, with dreams of one day living by the sea. I am a huge fan of cooking, exploring nature, video games or nerd culture, philosophy/religion, great movies, and reggae music.

I am presently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Counselor Education at Indiana University. My time in grad school has given me the opportunity to deeply connect with a lot of people and widen my perspective on life. I highly value how each individual can uniquely inspire or teach others with their stories and experiences. These opportunities have reminded me of the importance of mutual learning, collaboration, and cultural humility which I hope to integrate in counseling.

My Approach

As a counselor, I will prioritize creating a safe space for you to come as you are. Connection, collaboration, curiosity, and humor are some of my biggest values. Together, you and I will create addition goals that meet your needs and help you live in an authentic and satisfying way. The unique context of your life will always be important to counseling with me. You’ll have the opportunity to receive support or be challenged, depending on what best suits you. I utilize the techniques of solution-focused therapy and person-centered therapy mostly, while also appreciating the value of an integrative and flexible approach to counseling.
